A Black hole is an extremely dense region in space where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. It forms when a massive star collapses under its own gravity after a supernova explosion. The boundary around it is called the event horizon, beyond which escape becomes impossible. Black holes can vary in size, from small stellar ones to supermassive black holes found at the centers of galaxies, such as in the Milky Way. Although invisible, they can be detected by their effects on nearby stars and gas. Black hole अंतरिक्ष का एक ऐसा क्षेत्र है जहाँ गुरुत्वाकर्षण इतना शक्तिशाली होता है कि प्रकाश भी वहाँ से बाहर नहीं निकल सकता। यह तब बनता है जब कोई विशाल तारा सुपरनोवा विस्फोट के बाद अपने ही गुरुत्वाकर्षण से ढह जाता है। इसके चारों ओर एक सीमा होती है जिसे इवेंट होराइजन कहते हैं, जिसके बाद वापसी संभव नहीं होती। ब्लैक होल छोटे तारकीय आकार से लेकर विशाल आकाशगंगाओं के केंद्र में मौजूद सुपरमैसिव ब्लैक होल तक हो सकते हैं, जैसे Milky Way में। यह सीधे दिखाई नहीं देते, लेकिन इनके प्रभाव से इनका पता लगाया जाता है।
