Physics

Ohm Law

Relate voltage, current and resistance.

V = I × R

Formula Explanation

For an ohmic conductor under constant physical conditions, voltage is proportional to current.

Variables Explained

V = Voltage in volts; I = Current in amperes; R = Resistance in ohms.

Solved Example

Find voltage when current is 2 A and resistance is 6 Ω.
V = 2 × 6 = 12 V.

Exam Tip

Remember the rearrangements I = V/R and R = V/I.
