परिचय
Plant Physiology (पादप शरीर क्रिया विज्ञान) जीव विज्ञान की वह शाखा है जिसमें पौधों में होने वाली विभिन्न physiological processes और उनके regulation का अध्ययन किया जाता है।
इसमें मुख्य रूप से पौधों में:
जल का अवशोषण और परिवहन
खनिज पोषण
प्रकाश संश्लेषण
श्वसन
वाष्पोत्सर्जन
पौधों में पदार्थों का परिवहन
वृद्धि और विकास
Plant Growth Regulators
का अध्ययन किया जाता है।

1. पौधों में जल का महत्व
जल पौधों के लिए आवश्यक है क्योंकि यह:
Photosynthesis में raw material के रूप में उपयोग होता है।
Nutrients के transport में सहायता करता है।
Cell turgidity बनाए रखने में महत्वपूर्ण है।
विभिन्न metabolic reactions में भाग लेता है।

2. Water Absorption
पौधे मुख्यतः roots के माध्यम से जल absorb करते हैं।
Root hairs soil particles के संपर्क में surface area बढ़ाते हैं।
जल का root में प्रवेश मुख्यतः osmosis और water potential gradient से संबंधित होता है।
3. Osmosis
Semipermeable membrane के माध्यम से water molecules का movement water potential के gradient के अनुसार होता है।

4. Plasmolysis
जब plant cell को hypertonic solution में रखा जाता है, तो water cell से बाहर निकल सकता है और protoplast cell wall से दूर हो जाता है।
इस घटना को Plasmolysis कहते हैं।

जब plant cell water absorb करता है तो cell के अंदर pressure develop होता है जिसे Turgor Pressure कहा जाता है।

Water potential पौधों में water movement की दिशा समझने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण concept है।

7. Root Pressure
Roots में minerals के active absorption और water movement के कारण xylem में positive pressure develop हो सकता है जिसे Root Pressure कहा जाता है।

में योगदान कर सकता है।
यह tall plants में water transport का मुख्य mechanism नहीं है।
8. Transpiration
पौधों के aerial parts से water vapour के रूप में water loss को Transpiration कहते हैं।

इनमें stomatal transpiration सामान्यतः प्रमुख होती है।
9. Transpiration के लाभ
Transpiration:
Cooling में सहायता करती है।

Stomata plant surface पर पाए जाने वाले छोटे pores हैं।
इनके आसपास Guard Cells होती हैं।

11. Stomatal Opening और Closing
Guard cells की turgidity में परिवर्तन stomatal aperture को प्रभावित करता है।

Turgor increase
महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं।
Stomatal closing में guard cell turgor कम हो सकता है।
Abscisic Acid (ABA) water stress की स्थिति में stomatal closure को promote करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है।
12. Ascent of Sap
Roots से leaves तक water और dissolved minerals के upward movement को Ascent of Sap कहते हैं।
Xylem इस transport में मुख्य भूमिका निभाता है।
इसके लिए प्रमुख explanation:

इस theory के अनुसार:
Transpiration leaves से water loss कराती है।
इससे xylem में negative pressure/tension विकसित होता है।
Water molecules के बीच cohesion के कारण continuous water column बना रहता है।

15. Translocation
Phloem के माध्यम से sugars और अन्य organic solutes के source से sink तक transport को Translocation कहते हैं।
